The Orchestra

An orchestra has four families which are String, Brass, Percussion and Woodwind. A conductor conducts the instruments so they can play divine music for people at their concert.

One of the families in the orchestra is the string family. They are played by being plucked or rubbed on the strings of the harp, violin, double bass, cello and many more. My favourite instrument is the Harp.

Another family of instruments is the percussion section. They are used by being patted so music can be played.

There is the Woodwind section. This was originally made from wood in the old days. They are played by blowing air into them.

Lastly there is the brass family. The French Horn has shiny metal. It is played by air being blowed into a mouth piece. The French Horn was made out of a bulls horn.

When these four musical families are played together they make lovely music.
